Star Citizen help and troubleshooting
Get Star Citizen help for launcher, login, download, connection and game problems without jumping straight to a full reinstall.
The fastest fix depends on whether the problem is affecting everyone, is already known in the current patch, or is local to your own launcher and PC. Start at the top and stop when the symptoms match.

Use this troubleshooting order
- Check service status. An outage, deployment or maintenance window cannot be repaired from your PC.
- Check the current known-issues page. Search the page for the exact error number or symptom.
- Fully close the game and every RSI Launcher process. The launcher normally sits in the Windows system tray unless close-to-quit is enabled.
- Use the launcher’s built-in cache clear and Verify options. These are safer first steps than manually deleting the whole installation.
- Check free space, Windows updates, graphics drivers and background conflicts. Test one change at a time.
- Read the latest game.log after a crash. The most recent session can show the error family that needs further research.
- Search or contribute to Issue Council. Include the current build and reproducible steps.
Launcher and download problems
RSI’s current minimum requirements specify an SSD with at least 150 GB of available space. On Windows, use an NTFS-formatted installation drive and leave additional headroom for updates and file verification. Download the current RSI Launcher from the official site rather than using an old installer shared in a post or message.
When the launcher is stuck checking for updates, clear its cache from the launcher settings and try again. For manifest, P4K or verification errors, use the official error article rather than repeatedly restarting the same download. Network filters, VPN features, antivirus inspection and a damaged local file can produce similar-looking failures.
Crashes and poor performance
After a crash, open the newest game.log before launching again, because it belongs to the most recent session. Keep Windows and the graphics driver current, check temperatures and remove overclocks from the test. If the problem began after changing Vulkan, DirectX, resolution or an overlay, return one setting at a time instead of changing everything together.
RSI lists VPN services, antivirus or anti-malware tools, graphics injectors such as ReShade and some overlays as possible conflicts. That does not mean they must be permanently removed. Close them temporarily for a controlled test, then re-enable them one at a time until the cause is clear.
Login, loading and connection errors
A 19k, 30k, 60k or infinite-loading problem may be a service issue, a known patch problem or a local session problem. Check the status and known-issues pages first. Then verify the system clock, close duplicate launchers, verify game files and make sure the launcher and game are allowed through the firewall. Waiting is sometimes the only valid fix when servers are under heavy load.
Do not destroy useful evidence
A full reinstall is a last resort, not a first step. Before deleting the game, keep the error number, a screenshot and the relevant log. That evidence helps you search accurately and makes an Issue Council contribution useful to other players.
Should I delete the USER folder after every patch?
No. Use it only when the current official guidance or a specific problem calls for it. Deleting it can remove local settings and keybinds, so export anything important first.
Why does the game fail even though RSI Status says operational?
Status pages report service health, not every client-side problem or game bug. Move next to the known-issues list, launcher help and the Issue Council.
When should I contact RSI Support?
Use support for account access, entitlement, launcher and technical issues that are not solved by the published steps. Reproducible game bugs still belong on Issue Council.
